Warning during application shutdown with Surface3D element

When closing a QML application with QQmlApplicationEngine and a Surface3D Item I get the warning message:

Attempting to create QWindow-based QOffscreenSurface outside the gui thread. Expect failures.

This only appears if a QQmlApplicationEngine  object is used in the main function. If a QQuickView object is used instead, the application closes without any warnings.

I've tested it with the Data Visualization examples: QML Spectrogram and QML Surface
