TexStudio in Debian 9, stretch
Description
Qt blocks the direct keyboard entry of UNICODE characters in the range U+E000 to U+E07F. I think that this is the same issue as is mentioned in this bug. If this should be a separate bug, let me know and I will try to create a new one. I am not familiar with this system. I found this problem when using applications in Debian 9 Stretch, specifically TexMaker and TeXstudio. The bug does not appear in Gummi (also a LaTeX editing application) nor in gedit. Also, this problem is new since April of 2014, which was when I last worked with these characters in TeXstudio. I contacted the maintainer for TeXStudio who told me that, because this behavior is seen in both TexMaker and TexStudio, the problem is with Qt. I should also mention that I can cut and paste characters from the UNICODE range, but I cannot enter them directly from the keyboard. You can get that keyboard from here: http://freetengwar.sourceforge.net/keylayouts.html
