Precondition: T9 is active.

Open an application containing QLineEdit (such as Wiggly)
Tap on the line edit to open FEP dialog.
Type partial word (so that it is underlined by T9, e.g 'wor') and tap "options" button and select "Insert Symbol"

==> Symbol menu opens.

Select any symbol (e.g. '*')

==> Expected: LineEdit contains 'wor*'
==> Actual: LineEdit contains '*', i.e. the symbol selection clears away the preedit text.
