Investigate effort/pros/cons of discontinuing Windows 7 support in Qt 6 [Spike]

    Description

      Note: This report is merely for gaining an estimate of the required work and potential benefits/drawbacks of removing Windows 7 support. It does not imply any decision.

      Benefits:

      • This would enable a substantial code cleanup:
        • Fully rely on pointer handling replacing WinTab
        • Directly invoke newer WinAPI functions instead of dynloading in a number of places (see systemlib.txt)

      Estimated workload: 1..2d

      Note however that this is tied to minimum supported version of MinGW.
