QSystemTrayIcon will not send messages to Growl if it is hidden

      If the QSystemTrayIcon is hidden, it does not dispatch notifications to growl. On OS X most apps don't have/need system tray icons since they are in the dock anyway.

      A workaround is to temporarily show the icon before calling showMessage but that's an ugly hack.
