ComboBox accessibility broken for a screen reader

      Description

      Run the attached app, which loads this page:
      `https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices/examples/combobox/aria1.1pattern/listbox-combo.html`

      Using a screen reader such as Narrator (which can be invoked/dismissed by Ctrl-Win-Enter) go to Example #3, and arrow through the items in the dropdown.
      Expected: Narrator reads the items as you arrow through them.
      Actual: It doesn't.

      Compare what Narrator says in the demo with what it says when loading the page in Chrome--there may be other differences.
