macOS: Text lookup will either not show the quick lookup popup at all, or the yellow area for the word is not covering the text correctly

When doing a three-finger tap then it will either not show the quick lookup popup at all, or the yellow area for the word is not covering the text correctly. In some cases it will never show up, though it shows up fine for native applications. In others it does not display the yellow overlay correctly. This can be tried with the application or textedit example.
