The default vertical spacing of 6 in layouts results in everything being squished together in preview. If you change the spacing to 5 or 7 then it works as expected. It's almost like the designer thinks that 6 is the default but the actual default is much lower. 

I haven't tested one of these UI files in an actual project, so I'm not sure if this only effects preview or also effect actual dialogs in code.
