QPlainTextEdit becomes really slow if more than 4000 lines

      If you have more than 4000 lines in QPlainTextEdit, scrolling around the bottom of the scrollbar is fine, but scrolling around the middle is unreasonably slow. Worse, text insertion anywhere away from the end of the document is super slow. Even leaving the widget focused and the cursor blinking at the first line eats up 50% of my CPU. The CPU consumption drops if I focus on another app to remove the the blinking cursor.
