Android: Creating AVD from run dialog does not work

I did the following:

1. Opened an example (Secure Socket Client)
2. Selected Android x86 kit
3. Hit "Run". I then got the dialog where it says I have no compatible devices.
4. Clicked "Create Android Virtual Device"
5. Filled in the form and clicked "Ok"

After this, nothing happened. I had to go into Settings and click the "AVD Manager" button there to create the AVD instead.
