Entering backslash \ on MacOS in the fakevim - command line does not work?

      I do not known how to enter in the fakevim command line a backslash.

      On a mac I need to enter a backslash as alt-shift-/, which is interpreted merely as /.

      The mac I am using is Mac 10.5.8
