ESC doesn't close panes if search in application pane was used and the application tab was closed

    Description

      1. Run some application that produces some output in the Application Output pane (e.g. a test)
      2. Click into the Application Output pane so you can see a cursor
      3. Hit Ctrl+F to show the search bar on the bottom
      4. Close the application tab so it shows you a grey area (must have been the last tab?!)
      5. Hit ESC several times to close the Application Output pane and to focus the editor - nothing happens.
