    Description

In the Qt Creator text editor on Mac, the key sequence Command-hyphen makes the font appear smaller (zoom out), but Command-equal sign does not make the font appear larger. This behavior is not consistent with that of common Apple-provided applications, such as TextEdit (in plain text mode), Safari, and Preview.

Background: The Apple Human Interface Guidelines indicate that in the Format menu, Command-hyphen should "decrease the size of the selected item" and that Shift-Command-equals sign should "increase the size of the selected item." In a word processing application, these shortcuts could be used to increase or decrease the font size.

Increasing or decreasing the size of a selected item does not make sense in certain applications because it is not possible to select and alter the size of individual components. In applications like Safari, Preview, and TextEdit, Command-hyphen and Shift-Command-hyphen both decrease the magnification of the view (zoom out). Command-equals sign and Shift-Command-equals sign both increase the magnification of the view.
