Adding a little to the forum thread linked to...
I use the escape key frequently when programming and when using visual editors. (A habit when learning CAD packages). Basically when I don't want to continue with a dialog or cancel a selection I usually tap escape on the keyboard.
Once every few minutes while working on a ui form, it will lock up the ability to add new widgets, or in other words I can't drag a new widget onto the screen. If I tap Escape in the UI form, it switches from Designer view to Editor view, and it doesn't fix the issue.
To get the drag and drop button count to reset in Qt Creator, I have to start a drag any where else in Windows, such as in File Explorer or on the Taskbar, and tap escape while dragging an item or selection.
I'm not entirely sure if it is related, but I think this also causes it to not let me drag any widgets on the screen more than one pixel. It will only snap to one 10px position farther away instead of dragging normally.
