When building an application for iOS it can hang briefly when starting a compile step. This is easily evident when building for either the device or the simulator and then using CMD+3/CMD+4 to switch the two panes throughout the build, occasionally it will stop switching and give the busy cursor before carrying on again. With XCode this is not a problem.
