1. Start Creator with empty settings, e.g. by adding the parameter -settingspath <empty directory>.
2. Switch to Debug mode.
3. Select the QML Profiler.
   You'll see something like this:
   
4. Press a key or click somewhere in Creator.
   The sidebar will then be shown correctly.

The sidebar should not turn black in the first place.
