GUI doesn't refresh properly on Ubuntu

I am running an ubuntu 16.04 VM inside parallels on OSX (El Capitan).

I installed all the 4.0 qt-creator issues and saw the same issue.

The qt creator window will not refresh properly. clicking on the project / edit buttons inside qtcreator will not change the pane being displayed.

Moving another application window to the front and then back will get the window refreshed.

That issue is happenning both on 14.04 and 16.04. Both distros were totally up to date in terms of packages.

Qt-creator seems to be the only affected app with that behavior.

I'm ready to make any needed further testing / troubleshooting.
