QT 5.8 failed on start (Linux Mint Mate 18.1 x64)

I just installed flash VirtualBox on my Mac Sierra (10.12.4 Beta 16E163f). After installing Virtual box (Version 5.1.14 r112924 (Qt5.6.2)) and then installing Linux Mint Mate 18.1 x64, updating system to latest, installing build-essentials and downloading latest 5.8 Qt I noticed following error when starting from command line

QApplication: invalid style override passed, ignoring it.
QOpenGLFramebufferObject: Unsupported framebuffer format.

Then I see Qt Creator started with black background. Please see attached screen shot and glxinfo output. Please note VirtualBox Guests tools were installed and rebooted before installing Qt 5.8.
Also noticed that when trying to drag Qt window around I see some bad tearing like there are two windows one trying to follow the other. Looks like the inner frame is lagging behind outer most window frame.
