SVN enabled for a project not under version control

I am workng on a project which is currently not under version control but the folder containing the project is under version control. When this project is opened in QtC, the SVN revision of the parent folder is shown in the window title and the Tools > Subversion submenu is enabled. Most of the comamnds in that submenu are not relevant for a project yet to be added to SVN.

When, for example, some existing files are added to the project, QtC tries to check the files' status from SVN and, as it should be, fails to do so:

Older QtC versions wouldn't treat, IIRC, a project as if it is under version control just because the project's parent folder, which is not part of the project, is under version control.
