When there's an error in QML code, I get blue underlined links such as "qrc:/components/Background.qml:17:5: blah" in the Application Output pane. But since the upgrade to Qt 5.9 & Qt Creator 4.3.0, this very rarely works - most often, clicking such a link does nothing. The versions in which it worked fine were Qt 5.8 + Qt Creator 4.2.x ("x" because I don't remember the minor version number).
