If any cmake settings/variables are changed within Qt Creator, one needs to click {Apply Configuration Changes} so they are reflected in the build.

Since this is an extra step and different from other project managers, it can be easily forgotten. In that case, it would be helpful if Qt Creator would suggest to apply the changed configuration if the user triggers a build.
