It happens to me all the time (and sometimes to my colleagues also), that I push to the wrong branch. That is no problem in general, but leads to extended work (abandon the wrong change, maybe modify the commit again because Gerrit refuses the push with "no new changes").

While Push to Gerrit often chooses the correct target branch by itself, it fails e.g. after checking out a patch from Gerrit or if you work on a stable branch but want to push to dev.

It would be nice to have one of the two options:

1. Push to Gerrit detects if the push contains an update of an existing patch (by Change-ID) set and selects the correct target branch therefore
2. The target branch is not selected at all and must be choosen by the user to avoid wrong pushes. This could be an option.
