Gentoo QTCreator 4.6.2 Clang 5/6
Description
got the same issue and looked at forums however did not see it resolved and i think its a real bug.
Preqs: use qtcreator for some time with Clang plugin.
issue: system monitor shows a 25% usage by the qtcreator process. this happens randomly when you use or not the editor (it just opened). high cpu usage continues during 2 minutes plus and eventually go away or not. the longest time i remember was a couple of hours when no activity was done in the editor.
steps to reproduce:
– have qtcreator opened for a while (clang plugin must be loaded)
– when high cpu usage is started, close the ide
– open again with default params (clang plugin is on) -> high cpu usage continues
– close and start the ide from terminal without Clang plugin loaded (screen 2) -> cpu usage is ok
– close and start the ide again with default params -> high cpu usage comes back again and continues for some time
can do that forever.
attached 2 process dumps when cpu is high and one after it resolved by itself.
tried with clang versions 5 and 6.
qt-creator is built with clang, git and webtools only.
i think its correct to say that as longer you do not close qtcreator as longer the time periods with high cpu load continue.
