Be able to use variables in custom locators to limit to the current project instead of depending on directories

Be able to use variables in custom locators to limit to the current project instead of depending on directories, this would enable a custom filter to exclude generated files and so on inside a project when using the locator. Currently it can only be limited to a given directory which causes it to include too much or it has to be changed each time.
