close button's area in "open documents" pane way too big

the "open documents" pane shows a close "button" upon hovering a particular file. the problem is that clicking way off the "x" still (tries to) close the file. it appears that the entire area up to the downwards extension of the right side of the combobox which selects the sidebar's mode is considered to be the button.
