Use of 'alignof()' immediately crashes QtCreator

Launch QtC. Using project wizard create 'Plain C++ Application'. In main.cpp try to place:

alignof()

In my case this crashes QtCreator 100% of the time.  If I edit this file externally QtCreator crashes as soon as it tries to parse it during project reopening.

I'm using QtCreator that reports itself as:
