Description
I'd like to suggest adding a more advanced run settings configuration to QtCreator. The current run configuration has only very basic functionality and is not that easy to use.
Here is a current example from a CMake project:
Currently, the name of the configurations is only shown as a drop-down menu. The width is very small (see image above). It would be nice to have a UI that, for example, shows the whole list of run configurations on the left side - maybe even grouped by the used executable/target (e. g. via a tree view) - and the configuration for the selected configuration on the right side. This would make navigation through the configurations a lot easier. Also copying and removing of run configurations would be easier.
Other things which would be nice to have:
- run scripts/programs before or after target execution
- mark (e. g. with an exclamation mark) targets which are no longer being built by the project
- filter run configurations based on executable/target or based on the configuration's name
- define variables for each target and for each run configuration that can be used e. g. in the "Command line arguments:" field.
