I am running QtCreator on my chromebook.
the Gui elements are very small in size.
I tried to change the font size by going to /tools/options/text editor.
I was able to make a change to that value. But all it did was
make the text within the editor window larger. The actual
size of the QtCreator UI elements remain the same.

72+ years of age, eye-sight is not as good as earlier. Can you fix it?
I had a similar problem with Eclipse. They had a solution but they
would not apply it to older versions (which was the one installable
by apt-get). I throw it away and went looking for something better.
I found VS Code. I would be there but I then found Qt.
I like C++. And I would like to use your QML interface.
