Snippets definition unclear

Hi!

I am using snippets for my code completion in a plugin.

This is very helpfull. I provide a snippet xml together with my plugin. Works fine.

I tried to add a snippet via the gui, but the gui then refused the snippet (invalid).

Question:

• Wy are my snippets acceppted in xml, but not via UI?
• Should the snippets in xml restricted to the same rule as the UI or the UI be not so restrivited

The later solution would be the better from my point of view

For explanation: The plugin is for Sphinx (Python Doc) ReST support, the snippets are (docutils) directives.
