There is no way to properly hide (and have it stay hidden) the "General Messages" output tab? If a user turns it off with the options at the end of the tab row in the UI it keeps appearing again when some new message wants to be displayed, and it also constantly switches to it when user wants to view another tab (often the compile output).

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Run QtCreator, switch to the edit tab with no project open and hide the general messages tab.
2. Open a project - the tab comes back but doesn't switch
3. Switch to the compile output tab
4. Open the root .pro file then make a change in the pro file, add a space and hit save.
5. While watching the compile output, it switches back to the general messages tab.
