I installed 2 versions of Qt Creator to see if a behaviour changed between them. I had a problem to pin correct version to the taskbar. It turns out that there is a file /usr/local/share/applications/org.qt-project.qtcreator.desktop and KDE Task Manager will always pin that one instead of the version that is actually started. Once I deleted that file Task Manager will always pin the running version. This behaviour can be considered a bug in KDE, but what if I actually want 2 version of QtCreator?

      Suggested behaviour:
      1. when installing QtCreator if there already is a file org.qt-project.qtcreator.desktop do not overwrite it
      2. create a file org.qt-project.qtcreator.version.desktop
      3. Provide some tool to choose which Qt Creator is the default (meaning which one is pointed to by org.qt-project.qtcreator.desktop file).

Yes, that means that the first QtCreator installed will create two *.desktop files.
