Scanning the project tree cannot be aborted and blocks other dialogs

I am using QtCreator in combination with VCPKG manifests. The VCPKG tree is in the project directory, unfortunately. When configuring the project, "Scan XXX project tree" runs for a very very long time. Aborting the scan manually results in a crash. That was at least possible in the previous versions of QtCreator. While Qt Creator scans the project tree I cannot make changes in the CMake project configuration neither can I run a build.

Please:

1. Make the scanner interruptible without crashing QtC
2. Allow starting builds while scanning the project tree
