The configuration that I ended up with after running the first installation was did not include a functioning Kit (this perhaps was an error on my part). Qt Creator did ont highlight this as an error.

It took me some time to figure out that there is a Maintenance tool that allows me to install additional components.

I would assume that in Creator the Kit configuration dialog would show available Qt versions and directly initiate the installation from there. Or at least direct the user to the Maintenance Tool
