Creator freezes during startup

Qt creator locks up while checking for licenses (pretty sure that's the trigger, but I haven't dove into the code).

Clicking on creator then results in the not-responding state (windows) and the app is just unresponsive for up to a minute. 

This is what splash screens are for. Let's:
1) unblock whatever is blocking to remove that unresponsive state (and allow the app to be closed) and
2) hide things behind a splash/loading screen/popup. It just looks more professional.
