It would be really nice if Qt Creator could auto-detect indentation (spaces/tabs, and tab size) from file contents.

We have many files with different tab/space indentation, and I always have to play with the Preferences to get it right.

Mostly evident with Makefile, which requires tabs.

Also, for C++ files the settings are in a different place, so I have to find which one to change according to context.

If auto-detection is too hard, please at least make it easier to control in the status bar like in VS Code.
