Scaling of splits is broken

When I make a horizontal split to make available multiple editors inside QtCreator, I can drag the separator bar between the splits to change the size of the splits adjacent to the separator. This is very intuitive and expected behavior from an UX perspective.

However, if I introduce a third split, the scaling does NOT operate in the same way! Depending on which separator bar I drag, it may affect only the adjacent splits, or it may affect all splits.

In this screenshot, you can see 3 splits [A, B & C] divided by two bars [1 & 2]. When I drag bar 2, it affects the size of split B and C as expected, however when I drag bar 1 it affects all splits A, B and C which is counter intuitive and inconsistent.

It gets worse with more splits. Depending on which split you divide, moving a single bar can affect the size of ALL the splits in the UI. Please see screen capture for this effect to be demonstrated.
