Creator bombing the system with git calls

Since 3840f31b4a78a799803eafd648a4af0ea5618679 there are a lot of git calls. I have a fairly big project tree (including the boost files) and additionally an anti virus software (installed by IT department, I can't get rid of) and that results in the whole system to be crippled. Don't want to talk about battery life with the CPU at 100% for doing nothing.

I personally don't see any value in that feature, so a switch to disable it would be my choice number 1. But apart from that I think there should be improvements:

• Perform the git calls not all at once, but queue them and have at most X active.
• Maybe add an option not to poll the data continuously, but rely on editing the files only in the creator, and then the information if a file is changed.
