AFAIK, the Git plugin currently allows showing git logs for a single open file, the entire directory of a project or a whole repository. I'm not aware of a way do display a git log of a generic directory.

Could that be provided by adding an entry to the File System view's context menu? The Git plugin could then run "git log" on the right-clicked file or directory and display the result in the usual log editor.
