Harmonize project/file creation operations between IDEs
Description
What
- Validate that creation wizards (project & file) contain sensible steps, are informative, and behave symmetrically in Qt Creator, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
- Validate that the projects created in Qt Creator and Design Studio are mutally useful in the other tool.
Why
- Any friction and non-intuitiveness will be experienced by the majority of users as this is commonly used functionality.
Dependencies
- Visual Studio Code integration
- Visual Studio integration
- Qt Design Studio
User stories / Acceptance criteria
- As a user I want to create projects in one tool and continue using the created project in another tool.
- As a user I want to create the project using the templates and the same attributes, irrespective of the tool in which I create it (this likely does not concern Qt Design Studio).
- As a user I want to create files using the templates and the same attributes, irrespective of the tool in which I create it.
Tasks
- Validate the iconography of the project templates.
- Validate the iconography of the file templates.
- Remove compat-instances of the templates (since Qt 5 is deprecated by the time Qt Creator 17 is released).
- Ensure that user-displayed content is in synchrnoy with equivalent Visual Studio / Visual Studio Code wizards (number and names of the templates, descriptive text)
- (Continuity beyond the original definition) Create the collaboration-related user stories for the Qt tools portfolio - essentially: a project begun in tool X can be continued in tool Y without need of manual editing of project files
