QtCreator consumes all memory, trips OOM-killer, causes applications to crash

      Frequently when building a project, my system will freeze. Apparently, QtCreator has requested all of the memory. The system will lock up for a number of minutes (no keyboard response, mouse pointer won't move etc.)

      Usually the OOM-killer then kills Firefox and Chrome tabs. Sometimes it kills QtCreator itself.

      Building the same project from the command line (e.g. make -j20) appears to work normally.

      I don't know how to troubleshoot this. Please advise me on additional information that may help.
