gremlin characters at the bottom line of compile output

      small visual glitch when building: the bottom line of the compile output has some gremlin characters, which seem to be related to ansi escape codes:

      it only seems to affect the bottom line. once new lines are printed, the ansi escape codes seem to be applied correctly
