Threaded autocomplete is cancelled when non alphanumeric character is entered

I'm used to hitting Ctrl+Space for autocompletion (when I know there's one option), then while waiting for the completion, I continue writing (pressing space, opening parentheses etc.).

Now with the threaded autocompletion, if I do that, the symbol is not completed at all...
