VCS diff and log editor needs to behave more like a normal editor

      Make the VCS diff and log editors behave more like normal editors.

      Currently they are very "special" resulting in inconsistent use of settings, etc.

      The editor should also be a normal read-only editor that can actually be saved and edited.
