cannot type (double) quote

Since upgrade to Qt Creator 2.6.1, I cannot type quote and double quote in the editor.
No problem with previous SDK. Keyboard: US international, language: English/UK English/US (tried both).
In Kate, Gedit etc. it works OK: pressing SHIFT double quote and next a space gives a double quote.
In Qt creator I get a useless ¨ instead of ". Same problem for single quote. Rest of keyboard values seem to work OK.
In other parts of the SDK (e.g. typing a path) I have the same problem.
Works OK when using the AltGr key. But this is very cumbersome.
