Open QtCreator 2.7.0 (installed via Qt 5.0.2 Mac installer)
Choose File -> New File or Project...
In the projects column choose "Applications"
In the middle column choose "Qt Quick Application (from existing QML File)

Note that the template description starts with "Creates a Qt Quick 1 application (...)"

This is propably a copy / paste error.
