Using Qt Creator 2.8 on Linux, with the built-in Perforce plugin, when you edit a file with the "Automatically open files when editing" option enabled, forcing the Perforce plugin to check out the file (with p4 edit command), there are two slightly annoying connected issues:

1. The Version control output pane displays, even if it's been hidden or disabled completely (ticked off in the bottom status bar).
2. The version control output pane takes focus away from the code window.
