Installer fails frequently for some hardware combinations

Installer gives frequent hash errors and socket time-outs if installed via fast internet onto a relatively slow drive.  Eventually times out and removes all downloaded files, so the process must be repeated several times before success.  No problems installing on SSD external or internal.

Note: the installer downloads a huge number of separate files.  That is unusual for app installers.  Many failure points.
