Can't install to /Developer on OSX

I downloaded the Qt 5.1.0 RC offline installer for OSX (qt-mac-opensource-5.1.0-rc1-clang-offline).

The installer was copied from the dmg to the desktop.

I launched the installer, chose /Developer as the install directory and entered my password.

The installer then produced the error “Error while elevating access rights”.

I was able to work around the problem by launching the installer binary from the terminal with sudo.
