Description
In Bugzilla, one can add an arbitrary other user to the list of Ccs to a bug, which means that user will receive the current change, plus all future ones until he unsubscribes himself.
In JIRA, this would be like adding someone else as a Watcher. I can currently only add myself.
The use-case for this feature is when it's necessary to ask someone for information. For example:
- I find a bug reported, but I'm not sure if it's an actual issue
- I remember that Joe Developer has worked on a similar issue
- I add "Joe Developer" to Cc and write in the comment field: "Joe, is this a real bug? When you looked at it last week, what did you conclude? Do you have the fix someone in your branches?"
Right now, the only way of accomplishing this workflow is to assign the task to said Joe Developer. Drawbacks:
- It is only possible if that user is a Qt developer (so it's not possible to add a non-Troll whom I know to have experience on that area)
- I have to remember to add myself to the Watchers list
- Joe Developer has to remember to assign the task back to me
