Description
Copied from QTBUG-88725 where Lawrence Emke writes:
"I know I do not do make a good choice for selecting the "Components" option when filing a bug report.
1. The list is very long.
2. All I see is a list of strings that is suppose to allow me to choose the correct value
to reduce the amount of effort in handling the report.
3. I have no idea what all of these labels mean.
4. possible ways to improve my selection:
a. provide a "hover over" popup that provides more information to define
what is meant by the label.
b. reduce the number of entries to something I can understand. Again,
provide some definitions that explains the scope of the label.
c. Allow me to skip the entry, or provide a default that indicates the
person does not know what to choose.
provide a more structured definition of labels (eg. all of the "build" options under
one label with sub labels for the type of build. Or identify the type of project
and then list the subdivisions under that type. (include which function is used
to trigger the situation).
The other option is to do nothing and allow the situation to continue unchanged."
Some form of tree-structure for choosing the appropriate component might be useful. Alternatively, some hint that in many cases the user needs to select a different Project (e.g. QTQAINFRA or QTJIRA instead of QTBUG) might be useful.
